Lake Manasarovar (4560m elevation); known in Tibetan as Mapham Yum-tso or ‘victorious lake’ is the most honoured of Tibet’s numerous lakes. It symbolically represents the Sun. It is linked to the smaller Rakshas Tal lake, known as Lhanag-tso in Tibetan. |

The location of Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar is in a remote part of Western Tibet. Facilities and other amenities are very basic or not available at all. Therefore, we recommend that you prepare for this journey well in advance and give it the respect that it deserves.
To get the maximum experience from this journey we recommend that you do some background reading on this area of Tibet. While it is a beautiful, holy, peaceful, and a life changing experience being unprepared could lead to the disappointment of not being able to complete the parikrama.
